Susan C. Keating was until January 2022 chief executive officer of the Women Corporate Directors Foundation (WCD), a 501(c)(3) foundation that has served as a bold catalyst for boardroom diversity for more than 20 years and is the largest membership organization and community of women corporate directors in the world. In her capacity as CEO, Susan drove the strategy and mission of the organization, which is to: foster a powerful, trusted, and global community of women corporate directors, who meet specific and objective criteria; increase representation of women on public and large private company boards and in board leadership positions; increase the pipeline of aspiring and qualified female board candidates; inspire visionary boards worldwide by providing education and tools that keep members engaged, informed and high-performing as directors Prior to joining WCD, Susan was president and chief executive officer of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), the largest and longest-serving nonprofit credit counseling organization in the United States. Under her leadership, NFCC members improved the financial well-being of 26 million people with the support of $88 million in funding for housing programs and $36 million for other programs promoting financial wellness and stability. Susan spent 29 years in financial services before moving into the nonprofit sector, serving as president and chief executive of Allfirst Financial, Inc., the 43rd largest U.S. bank, and the largest U.S. holding of Allied Irish Banks plc (AIB Group). As Allfirst CEO, she served on the board and executive committee of AIB Group. Her additional financial services experience includes managerial and leadership roles with NationsBank, MNC Financial, and First Bank System. Susan served on Bank of America’s National Consumer Advisory Council and was a board member and personnel committee chair for the Council on Accreditation (COA). She also participated in the Financial Regulation Reform Collaborative, a non-partisan group committed to finding solutions for reforming financial services regulation. Susan was former board chair of the USA Swimming Foundation. Previously, Susan served on the board of the Baltimore Life Companies, Dauphin Deposit, York Bank and Trust and the Financial Services Roundtable, serving as chair of the Consumer Issues Committee. In addition, Susan served as a board member for the Greater Baltimore Committee, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, was chairperson for the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way of Central Maryland and served as Banking Chair for the U.S. Savings Bond National Volunteer Committee.
