Purpose Limitation

Purpose Limitation

Oct 5, 2020

A fair information practices principle. In the context of OECD and other regulations, the principle that the purpose(s) for which personal data collection and use are being made are stated at the time of collection; and that the use of that data is restricted to the purpose(s) stated at that time. If purpose(s) is/are changed, the individual whose information has been collected must be notified, unless there is other legal basis for withholding that notification.
