Asset Management is an organizational program that identifies, tracks (inventories), classifies, and assigns ownership of organizational assets over their lifetime to ensure they are protected and cannot introduced unknown risks. Those assets include technology and other business hardware, physical plants, people, and other tangible items.

Information management is an organizational program that manages the people, processes and technology that provide control over the structure, processing, delivery, and usage of information required for management, operational, and business intelligence purposes.
