(1) A disaster preparedness activity in which participants undergo a simulated disaster scenario. These exercises provide internal testing exercises and reporting that also provide training, allowing participants to become familiar with response protocols and to test the organization’s response practices. (2) A discussion-based exercise where personnel meet in a classroom setting or in breakout groups to validate a component(s) of the business continuity plan(s) by discussing their roles and responsibilities. A facilitator initiates the discussion by presenting a scenario and asking questions based on the scenario.
